How to Choose the Right Size Bounce House

Mar 03, 2022

A bouncy house can be a great deal of fun and be the highlight of your child's next party, ensuring that they have a great time with their friends!

However, if you want your party to be a success, there are a few things to keep in mind when selecting the bounce house’s size — read on to learn how to pick the perfect size!

Attendee Count

Without an accurate headcount, it's impossible to plan a budget or determine what kind of bounce house to reserve. If you’re renting from Kidz Play, make sure to let us know how many people will be attending the event. We’ve been in the biz for a long time, so we’ll be able to give you advice on which size you need!

Attendees' Age and Other Measurements

There isn't a hard limit on how old the guests can be as far as bounce houses go. The manufacturer's instructions define the inflatable's minimum and maximum user weight and height in most cases. Consider renting multiple bounce houses if you are unsure of your guests' ages, heights, and weights.

Available space

You also have to think about how much space your yard has for a bounce house. And not just for the bounce house, but also for any generators you might need. Another option is to rent out a gymnasium, so your kids can have fun bouncing even during rainy weather!

Available Ground Type

You will also want to look into the type of ground present in the space you’ve chosen for your bounce house. Your best bet is to set up your bounce house on a firm surface, such as a parking lot, driveway, or grassy area of your backyard. Make sure the grassy area is clear of obstacles like tree limbs or electrical wires!

To make sure the inflatable will fit, measure the area. You should also let us know what kind of surface you want to use; this helps us make sure the bounce house is compatible and can be set up correctly. Lastly, make sure there is plenty of access to the location. Inflatables require a large hand truck to be rolled in, and it can be hard to fit them through narrow gates.

Clearance for Inflatables

It's also important to think about the bounce house's height. In general, most bounce houses require at least 15 feet of vertical clearance, and many larger bounce houses can require up to twenty feet. If you're considering renting a bounce house, double-check the details, such as the exact measurements, before booking.

Watch out for low ceilings while using the equipment indoors or for potential obstructions like low power wires or tree branches when using the equipment outside.
